High‑quality leaf lard. I use it for homemade flaky pastries. The texture and taste are great for home baking. Would recommend.
The Lard Almighty! Here it is... The finest Pasture Raised Leaf Lard available. The gourmet baker's secret weapon. The perfect gateway fat for those who don't want too much pork flavor in their lard. Rendered from the prized pasture-raised "leaf" (internal fat) making it less "porky" tasting than our other lard offering which comes from back fat.
Both have their uses but as there is no meat muscle in the leaf the lard has a milder pork flavor. This makes for an amazing cooking fat that is delicate, light and "clean" tasting. Bakers have cherished Pasture Raised Leaf Lard because it creates the best crusts and cakes while not imparting any flavor of its own. And because of its high smoke point, Fatworks Pastured Raised Leaf Lard is simply perfect for frying and sautéing, especially when you want the natural flavors of your ingredients to shine. Fatworks Pure Premium Pasture Raised Leaf Lard is essential for anyone interested in cooking with traditional fat. Take a bite of what you make with it and you'll soon be Praising the Lard. We source the fat from small family farms in the US. GMO FREE, NO ADDED HORMONES, NO ANTIBIOTICS, NONE OF OUR PIG FARMERS USE PESTICIDES ON THEIR FARMS

I used it to make walnut cookies, and they turned out much more fragrant and delicious than the ones I made previously using other oils.

I used the leaf lard in my tamales, and the taste of the masa for the tamales was so good! I will definitely be buying it in the future for my tamales. It’s a little pricey, but definitely worth it.

Use the recipes by Paul Hollywood for mince pies and scones, substituting leaf lard for butter.

This leaf lard made fantastic pie crust. I used to get leaf lard from my farmer's market but they didn't have any. Fatworks saved my Thanksgiving - their leaf lard made a perfect tender pie crust.

Look at this apple pie. Talk about flaky and my pie crusts are made with fat works leaf lard. It is super delicious and has a super clean taste. I won’t use anything else for baking, sautéing or frying. Love this lard.

Slight pork smell but it would not stop me from buying again. I feel confident using the leaf lard in both savory dishes and baked goods.

I have been eying Fatworks lards for some time now, and finally decided to order some recently. I wanted leaf lard for when I make pastry doughs and sweets, but it is just as wonderful for savory dinners as well. I have never cooked with lard, so I cannot give you a comparison for it’s performance. But I will say, I am not at all disappointed and I will certainly be ordering more when I run low. If you’re on the fence, take the leap! The lard is high quality and wonderful for all your culinary needs. I will also be purchasing the beef tallow soon to make balms and salves with, I currently use coconut oil, but would love to switch that out in some of my homemade products for lard. Thank you for the wonderful product Fatworks!

We use it in our bread recipes instead of plant based oils, never disappointed

The Leaf Lard creates such tender and hefty bread. I absolutely love it. I will continue getting this for years to come.

PHENOMINAL. Made this mixed berry pie with a pie crust recipe that used both leaf lard and butter (a perfect combo; one for a flaky crust, the other for flavor). Recipes for both crust and blueberry pie (I used a mixture of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry) from www.beyondkimchee. Interestingly, I recently read that lard has less saturated fat than butter! This lard is quite soft even kept in the fridge, so make sure it is cold when you mix your piecrust. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I have used two different varieties of lard from Fatworks. They are amazing. Just like our ancestors, I am starting to cook with pork lard, since it’s nutritious and has a high smoke point.

I received Leaf Lard for Christmas and decided to try it in a pie crust recipe that calls for butter and lard. Having previously used regular inexpensive lard, I was curious how this Fat Works Leaf Lard would play out. Working with it, I found it important to keep the lard and the dough extra cold, and to chill the pie crust after putting it in the pan. Baking my chocolate pecan pie was a breeze. Did not need to cover the edges because the Leaf Lard seemed to protect it from browning too quickly. The resulting crust was flaky, evenly cooked, and just perfect. I am very happy with how it all turned out. Will use it in my next batch of Welsh Cakes and I know it will offer that perfect bite and sandy smoothness. Thank you, Fat Works!

Makes perfect pure crusts and is a good sub for butter on a grilled cheese. 😋

I am ssoooo excited to receive this! My mother in law makes the best apple pie but with Crisco, which is terrible for your health. I am gifting this to her, which is the original way her ancestors from Italy cooked her famous pie. It will make it extra flaky. I also can’t wait to buy the organic tallow, but it’s been sold out! I hope they get it back in stock soon.

I decided to add a picture to my first review that shows how leaf lard is suppose to look. The taste and smell are just as telling as the picture. I tried to reach out to fatworks by phone with no reply.

I head about leaf lard in baking - specifically for the creating the most delicate and flakey pie crusts. I did a baking test using my grandmother’s recipe and the leaf lard truly did make the best pie crusts ever!

Bought Leaf Lard, was well packed and easy to work with. Learned how to make buttermilk biscuits, and have made multiple batches over the past couple of weeks for husband's birthday. Suffice to say he's happy.

I made my first apple pie using dough with half leaf lard from fat works and half unsalted butter. The result was picture perfect. Tender and flaky. Many positive reviews at Thanksgiving. Never going back to all butter dough. My order on line came in less than a week and the product was in perfect condition (and I live on Maui)! TY!

Nice to have, use it for baked goods. Tried it for the first time and unfortunately I can taste the rosemary oil in it. Way too much, it overpowered the brownies and I only used a 2 tbsp.

Mild taste and cook with it more than once a day. I will be using this in place of seed oils.

I wanted to try leaf lard pie crust and ordered two jars that arrived quickly and VERY securely packed. The recipe I use normally calls for part vegetable shortening and part butter. I swapped in the leaf lard for the shortening and the difference for the better is incredible. The dough comes together more easily with the leaf lard. It rolls out smoothly and doesn’t break when transferring to the pie dish. I usually have some shrinking, even if the dough is chilled before baking, but not with leaf lard. The tenderness is unmatched. Absolutely the best break in any pie crust I’ve made. The flake is also totally different than shortening crust. I can actually see the crust layers in a slice of pie. Since my recipe also uses butter, I really don’t taste anything but butter, which is how I prefer it. Now that I’ve tried leaf lard, I won’t use shortening again. The results are that much better with the lard. A pie crust game changer!

I needed lard for a flour tortilla recipe, and I researched that leaf lard was the best. And this leaf lard is awesome! No funky flavours or porky smells, which I really appreciated.

This is the best product and equally great company. I live in Florida and wanted to buy some Leaf Lard for a special Christmas baking project that I had. I called them (in Colorado)the week before Christmas. They were able to mail it that day and it arrived at my house that Friday. I was so happy and my Christmas Tree Rolls turned out perfect. What a pleasure doing business with this 5* company. Thank you again!

I have used the Fatworks leaf lard before so I know it is a great product but was concerned when it arrived liquified without it even being warm days here. Called & was told this is not uncommon & told me what to do, it is now in fridge and hasn’t been used yet. We’ll see

I purchased this lard for use in making salves, and it absolutely melts into my skin. I infused it with several ounces of conifer resin, which gave it a wonderful aroma in addition to the medicinal benefits of the resin. When I can't find a local source of rendered fat, I know where to turn.

A long time friend told me about Fatworks and how cooking with lard is a healthier choice in baking. So I tried it. I have used it in homemade “Bisquick”, cakes, cookies, and pie crusts. The textures and tastes have been amazing! Thank you for this wonderful product!
